TRAILBLAZERSTrailblazers is an arts-led regeneration project based on the Downside Estate in Dunstable, South Bedfordshire. Led by Hazel Goldman of Free Form Arts, collaborating closely with lead officer Mark Richards, the Community Arts Development Officer for South Bedfordshire Borough Council, the project has covered consultation, environmental improvements, arts projects and community events. The project has been supported by a Multi-Agency Partnership, which has embraced local residents, local government at three levels and agencies and services including Housing, Education, the Police, drugs action and youth charities. Trailblazers is one of 5 arts-led regeneration projects funded by Arts Council England, East as part of the Arts Generate project. The other projects are based in Luton, Thurrock, Great Yarmouth and Southend. The overall evaluation of Arts Generate has been undertaken by Cultural Intelligence Ltd. Catherine has acted as Independent Evaluator on the Trailblazers project for the past three years, culminating in a report which she has just submitted to South Bedfordshire District Council. The report covered a Panel Questionnaire consultation exercise and an extensive evaluation of the Multi-Agency Partnership and its individual members. Catherine carried out this project with the initial heavy involvement of associate consultant Dee Read, and latterly with Philippa Gray assisting in carrying out important aspects of the evaluation. |
