Luton Creative Partnerships

Following on from the huge success of Creativity for Life in Essex and Hertfordshire (see below), CRO Ltd has been asked to support the setting-up of a new Creative Partnerships hub in Luton, working with the UK Centre for Carnival Arts (UKCCA), where the hub will be based.

We are currently gathering expressions of interest from schools in Luton who wish to take part in the project. Please note: projects may be carnival arts based, or based on any other artform or creative practice. Please contact Jo Piggott at the UKCCA on 01582 728005 for more information.

Creativity for Life

CRO Ltd continues to manage Creativity for Life, a two-year project funded by Creative Partnerships and Arts Council England, East.

Creativity for Life is part of a partnership programme across all the English regions, funded through Creative Partnerships by the then Department for Education and Skills (now the Department for Children, Schools and Families) Different projects were set up in each region. CfL is the Eastern Region initiative.

Essex and Hertfordshire local authorities have worked with Arts Council England East to develop relatively long-term partnerships of four terms between artists and schools in two areas: Harlow and Essex and Stevenage in Herts. After consultation with potential partnership schools, Herts chose the joint themes of Literacy and Transitions , while Essex chose to focus largely on Numeracy.

Thirteen schools in each area worked with a partner artist for up to four terms.

Projects were developed by schools on an individual basis according to the needs of the school and its pupils and staff.

One legacy of this project is a website, created by CRO Ltd to provide a resource for teachers and artists looking for creative approaches to numeracy and literacy, and to document the project and its evaluation. Click this button link to visit the site.

Visit the Creativity for Life website, which details the participating artists and schools, and documents the projects they carried out.

Note: this site is a work in progress.
