Creativity for Life is a project working with 13 schools in Stevenage, Herts and 13 schools in Harlow, Essex. Each school has been teamed with a creative practitioner with whom they will develop a relationship lasting until the end of March 2008.

The project includes:
  • a series of Lab Days: experimental professional development days for participating teachers and artists
  • a project in each of the 26 schools, developing creative teaching and teaching for creativity
  • research into the impact of this partnership working on the achievement and development of the whole school
  • A regional conference in March 2008 to disseminate findings and display the achievements of all the participating schools.

Hertfordshire schools are working on the joint themes of Transitions (between infant and junior or junior and secondary school) and literacy, including oracy, communication and emotional literacy. Essex schools are focusing on numeracy and mathematics, finding creative ways of dealing with numbers, space, problem-solving and ideas.
