Grange Park School

... is in West Malling in Kent. A group of pupils took up the poetry challenge and have produced ten entries, earning a pound each for Red Nose Day. Thanks to their teacher, Zoe Watson, for guiding them through the poetry-writing process and sending them to us.

My head it ached,
My nose was sore,
My voice it was not there at all,
Oh, woe is me, I hate this cold,
I'm really feeling very old.

But then the news,
It makes me think,
I really do have lots to drink,
And food to eat and clothes to wear,
I'm the one who is not there.

The images they make me stare,
I really don't have many cares,
My life it is much better the theirs,
Today must be my lucky day.

Today must be my lucky day,
My white guitar I want to play,
The tunes of Hendrix an my head,
It makes me head towards my bed,
The words from purple haze and the tune of star banner,
Make me shake my head and changes my manner,
My girlfriend Emma's quite aloof, So I take my guitar up on the roof.

Today must be my lucky day,
I got a new game to try and play,
It's Red Nose, it's such a titter,
A bad mood makes it bitter,
A monkey would know what to do,
Don't be aloof, I know what and so do you!

Michael Warren

This is my friend David,
He likes me tickling him,
He likes to play with his magic slinky,
His smile is huge,
His eyes are dark brown,
David never brings me down,
He gets a bit noisy once in a while,
But he calms himself down and puts back on his smile,
I like having David in my class,
Many a happy time together we pass.

Dominic Shepherd

Jump and swing like a monkey,
In and out really wonky,
Time to go on safari,
Don't forget to write in your diary.

You are going on the roof,
You are a big aloof,
There are things going terribly wrong,
Now it's all horribly rotten.

Today must be my lucky day,
I came to school,
And on the way,
A long white train went rolling by,
The Southern logo caught my eye,
The train was full of men and women,
Listening to their music,
Some were dancing and some were singing.

Today must be my lucky day, But I wish I was at home,
Playing my PS2 all day, and talking on the phone.
I'd fall asleep on the chair, eat a pizza and garlic bread,
Pet my dog's fluffy hair, a day relaxing my wearly head.
